Description:
This intermediate level Project Management Course builds upon foundational basic project management skills by using simulations to entrench core project management processes into course participants. The simulations will enable students to apply the concepts covered in the 10 PMBOK Project
 
Management Knowledge areas including:

  2. Project Scope Management
  3. Project Schedule Management
  4. Project Cost Management
  5. Project Quality Management
  6. Project Resource Management
  7. Project Communications Management
  8. Project Risk Management
  9. Project Procurement Management
  10. Project Stakeholder Management
Students will use proven tools and methods to enhance their project management skills.
 
Objective:
This intermediate level course is designed to enable students to entrench concepts contained the 10 PMBOK Project Management Knowledge Areas. The course is second of three courses that will enable participants who wish to extend their skills in order to prepare for writing the Project Management Institutes (PMI) Project Management Professional (PMP) certification exam. This course provides participants with a working knowledge of the fundamentals of project management principles to be applied in any industry.
 
At the end of this course, participates will be able to:
  1. Develop a Project Charter by establishing a project vision, cataloging the project organization, planning the approach to implementation all while creating a risk register for the project.
  2. Develop a Project Management Plan by identifying and engaging stakeholders, establishing project goals, defining project deliverables, creating a project schedule and budget, identifying and mitigating risks, while designing an effective communications strategy.
  3. Execute a project by using of status meetings and issues escalation processes.
  4. Close out a project by verifying the acceptance of the final project deliverables

After you attend this course/workshop, you will be able to:
  • Effectively Lead a project as a Project Manager.
  • Identify risks to a project and develop associated mitigation strategies.
  • Work through the project triple constraint model: Time, Scope Budget.
  • Effectively engage stakeholders throughout the delivery and close out of a project.
  • Close out a project by verifying acceptance of the final project deliverables.

The PDDP Distance Education program works as follows:

  • Once you register for this course, you will be sent a login username and password for our online distance website.

  • You will receive the course notes in hard copy through the online website, you will receive a set of notes each week covering the course material.

  • A one hour video-conference session will be conducted by your instructor each week (if required). The objective of this session is to assist in solving the assignments, as well as answer student questions that should be sent to instructor early enough prior to the meeting time. In addition with being able to communicate with the instructor, you will also be able to communicate with other students in the same class and watch their questions being answered as well. (A high speed internet connection is strongly recommended for this feature).

  • Each set of exercises can be completed and submitted by the indicated date and your completed exercise will be marked online and and returned by your instructor.

  • To gain the most from your course, it is highly recommended that you participate fully in all discussions and exercises. Please remember that each course has a form of quiz or exercise at the end to test your understanding of the material. You will be informed of these dates when you receive the course schedule.
