Course Description:
Contracts are usually developed in a complex environment during the estimation and bidding processes of a project. As such, an estimator needs to understand the methods of procurement and delivery of the contracted product and/or service, based on whether it is from the government or the industry. On the buyer’s or seller’s side? It does not really matter; concrete understanding of the contracting process is critical and can give project estimator an edge when it comes to providing accurate estimates during estimation and contract formulation phases. This course explains all phases of contracting, from project conception to its termination phase. It recommends the methods that can be applied to improve contract results. The course also explains different bidding documents that formulate the contract, highlights different contracts types and project delivery systems, explores vital issues from the estimator and project manager perspectives, highlights key roles and responsibilities to give an estimator greater understanding of how work is performed. Participants will also discuss actions that can be taken to help ensure that contractors or subcontractors perform as required under the contract. Lectures are combined with case studies and exercises to maximize the learning experience. Plus, participants will receive a comprehensive course materials package, including reference materials specific to each unit of the course.
