Project Management for Engineering Projects (12 PDUs)

Course Code: PM067
Date: 15 Sep - 16 Sep 2020
Location:

Education @ Your Desk. A Live Webinar Class means that you will attend the class via the web using your computer. There are scheduled breaks for coffee and lunch. You use a microphone, headset, or your phone and are able to interact with the instructor and other students while following notes while watching the presentation slides online just as you would in a live classroom. Notes are posted online. For an extra cost a hard copy can be requested.

The virtual classroom is becoming more and more popular, and we have a lot of experience teaching in this format. The only real difference between a live in-class and live via webinar is where you sit and what you look at. You can learn from the comfort of your own home or office. You pay less for the live webinar format than you would for the in-class format, and you do not have to travel to another city to attend the class. Please contact us at [email protected] for Special Group & Corporate Rates for one or more participants.

A certificate of completed Continuing Education Units (CEUs) will be granted at the end of this course. Continuing Education Unit (CEU)

Description
This course reviews the basics of Project Management as it applies to Engineering Projects. The concept of the “triple constraint” as it pertains to scope management, cost management, and time management is reviewed. Risk management techniques are also presented. The ideas will be illustrated using real-life examples of pitfalls and best-practices from engineering projects with which the instructor has been involved.

Objective
Having a technical background is a strong asset for a Project Manager on an Engineering project. However, Project Management skills are different than Engineering skills. Engineers often find themselves thrust into a project leadership position without the necessary project management skills to succeed. Engineers may be looking to understand the basics of Project Management in order to pursue new career growth opportunities. The objective of this course is to introduce the basics of project management as it pertains specifically to Engineering projects.

Target Audience
Engineers, new Project Managers

After Attending this Course, you will be able to:
  • Understand the basics of Project Management
  • See examples of the application of Project Management to real-world projects
  • Apply basic program management principles to your own Engineering projects
