Gas Turbines and Co-Generation Plants (1.8 CEUs)

Course Code: MEC058
Date: 30 Aug - 01 Sep 2021
Location:

Education @ Your Desk. A Live Webinar Class means that you will attend the class via the web using your computer. There are scheduled breaks for coffee and lunch. You use a microphone, headset, or your phone and are able to interact with the instructor and other students while following notes while watching the presentation slides online just as you would in a live classroom. Notes are posted online. For an extra cost a hard copy can be requested.

The virtual classroom is becoming more and more popular, and we have a lot of experience teaching in this format. The only real difference between a live in-class and live via webinar is where you sit and what you look at. You can learn from the comfort of your own home or office. You pay less for the live webinar format than you would for the in-class format, and you do not have to travel to another city to attend the class. Please contact us at [email protected] for Special Group & Corporate Rates for one or more participants.

A certificate of completed Continuing Education Units (CEUs) will be granted at the end of this course. Continuing Education Unit (CEU)
Daily Schedule:
8:00am - Registration and coffee (1st day only)
8:30am - Session begins
4:30pm - Adjournment
Breakfast, two refreshment breaks, and lunch are provided daily.

Description
This seminar will cover all aspects of gas turbines and co-generation plants. This seminar will cover in detail all the components of these types of plants such as: compressors, combustors, gas turbines, heat recovery steam generators, lubricating systems, instrumentation, control systems, transformers, and generators. The design, selection considerations, operation, maintenance, pay-back period, economics of gas turbines and co-generation plants, as well as emission limits, reliability, monitoring and governing systems are also covered in detail. This seminar will also provide up-dated information in respect to all the significant improvements that have been made to gas turbines and co-generation plants during the last two decades.
This seminar will illustrate through sophisticated computer simulation how gas turbines and co-generation plants perform under steady-state and transient conditions.

In addition, the delegates will learn how to use the computer simulation program which provides the following benefits:
  • Allow the operator to extend the gas turbine operating period by avoiding unnecessary outages and maintenance activities.
  • Determination of essential gas turbine maintenance activities to reduce the duration of outages.
  • Profit optimization of gas turbines and co-generation plants.
  • Minimization of the environmental emissions of gas turbines and co-generation plants.
Who Should Attend
  • Engineers of all disciplines
  • Managers
  • Technicians
  • Maintenance personnel
  • Other technical individuals
Seminar Outcome
  • Computer Simulation of Gas Turbine and Co-Generation Plants: Gain a thorough understanding of computer simulation of gas turbines, and co-generation plants.

  • Gas Turbine and Co-Generation Plants: Learn about the reliability, life cycle cost, profitability, refurbishment, and life extension methods for all types of gas turbines and co-generation plants.
Training Methodology
The instructor relies on a highly interactive training method to enhance the learning process. This method ensures that all the delegates gain a complete understanding of all the topics covered. The training environment is highly stimulating, challenging, and effective because the participants will learn by case studies which will allow them to apply the material taught to their own organization.

Special Feature
Each delegate will receive an excerpt, in digital form, of the relevant chapters from the Manual listed below authored by the instructor:

1. “POWER GENERATION HANDBOOK - 2nd edition” published by McGraw-Hill in 2011 (800 pages)

2. Practical manual (300 pages)
