Sanitary Sewer & Stormwater Drainage Systems Design Workshop (1.2 CEUs)

Course Code: CVL005
Date: 06 May - 14 May 2021
Location:

Education @ Your Desk. A Live Webinar Class means that you will attend the class via the web using your computer. There are scheduled breaks for coffee and lunch. You use a microphone, headset, or your phone and are able to interact with the instructor and other students while following notes while watching the presentation slides online just as you would in a live classroom. Notes are posted online. For an extra cost a hard copy can be requested.

The virtual classroom is becoming more and more popular, and we have a lot of experience teaching in this format. The only real difference between a live in-class and live via webinar is where you sit and what you look at. You can learn from the comfort of your own home or office. You pay less for the live webinar format than you would for the in-class format, and you do not have to travel to another city to attend the class. Please contact us at [email protected] for Special Group & Corporate Rates for one or more participants.

A certificate of completed Continuing Education Units (CEUs) will be granted at the end of this course. Continuing Education Unit (CEU)

Description
Eighty percent of a municipality’s problems are caused by twenty percent of its sanitary sewers and storm water drainage systems. The best way to avoid the majority of future problems is to pay greater attention to them during the design phase.

This 2-day workshop is intended for those who require better understanding of sanitary sewer and stormwater drainage systems design. The participant will be expected to complete a sanitary sewer and storm water drainage system design under instructor guidance by using first principle methods and/or design aids.

Objective
To understand the basics of sanitary and storm water system design, to develop skills to design new sanitary sewer and stormwater drainage systems as well as to design additions or replacements for existing systems.

Materials Required

  • Standard engineering calculator with scientific functions
  • Laptop for software training (if available)
Target Audience
Municipal engineers; public works directors; city engineers; superintendents of operations; wastewater system managers; safety inspectors and procurement officers from municipalities; consulting engineers; technicians and technologists; sewer construction contractors and other individuals who need a basic understanding of sanitary sewer and stormwater drainage system design and are currently employed in the wastewater management field.

Special Features
  • You will receive comprehensive course notes with all design charts, graphs and data that will serve as reference for future use. You will receive training on two of the top commercial software available in the market for the design of sanitary and storm sewer systems (StormCAD and SewerCAD).
  • You will receive a limited edition version (academic version) of the CAD design software package.

After Attending This Workshop You Will Be Able To

  • Understand the basics of sanitary and storm water sewer system design and application
  • Design a new sewer system
  • Back an analysis of existing systems for any possible problems
  • Learn how to use the commercial package Sewer CAD and Storm CAD
  • Discover the numerous issues to consider when planning sewer and stormwater drainage systems at a given site
  • Learn to design sanitary sewer and storm water drainage systems to meet given planning objectives
