Ground and Rock Anchors Design Workshop (1.2 CEUs)

Course Code: CVL109
Date: 31 May - 04 Jun 2021
Location:

Education @ Your Desk. A Live Webinar Class means that you will attend the class via the web using your computer. There are scheduled breaks for coffee and lunch. You use a microphone, headset, or your phone and are able to interact with the instructor and other students while following notes while watching the presentation slides online just as you would in a live classroom. Notes are posted online. For an extra cost a hard copy can be requested.

The virtual classroom is becoming more and more popular, and we have a lot of experience teaching in this format. The only real difference between a live in-class and live via webinar is where you sit and what you look at. You can learn from the comfort of your own home or office. You pay less for the live webinar format than you would for the in-class format, and you do not have to travel to another city to attend the class. Please contact us at [email protected] for Special Group & Corporate Rates for one or more participants.

A certificate of completed Continuing Education Units (CEUs) will be granted at the end of this course. Continuing Education Unit (CEU)
Daily Schedule:
12:00pm MST - Session begins
3:00pm MST - Adjournment

This course is divided into four sessions. Each session will be 3 hours in duration. The sessions will be held on May 31, June 1, 3 & 4.

If you are unable to attend any of the sessions a recording will be made available.

Description
Strengthening and stabilizing soil and rock masses, and resisting structural movements are achieved by anchoring via prestressed reinforcement. To withstand lateral forces, temporary tie-backs in soil are also necessary for successful construction of shallow foundations.

Ground and Rock Anchors have vast engineering applications and could be used in many projects either within the new design phase or after construction to strengthen components.
Ground and Rock Anchors are important components of ground support, soil improvements, foundation underpinning, wall support and endless other applications. This course is focused on the design, construction and protection of Ground and Rock Anchors.

Objectives

This practical and informative course would be beneficial for practicing engineers, technicians and technologists interested in safe and economic methods for strengthening engineering structures.

The objective of this course is to provide an in depth review of design, applications and installation methods for anchoring in rock and soil.

After you attend this course you will be able to:

  • Understand the design procedures of ground and rock anchors
  • Perform design for variety of different ground and rock anchors
  • Select the right anchors materials for the right site conditions
Special features

A project design workshop will be conducted under the instructor supervision, please bring in your calculator.
A revision and demonstration of available commercial design software will be introduced.

Target Audience

Practicing engineers, technicians and technologists interested in safe and economic methods for strengthening engineering structures.
This course will be of interest to a wide range of technical personnel who wish to increase their understanding of ground anchors.
  • Consultants
  • Structural engineers
  • Civil engineers
  • College and university faculty
  • Public works and construction department employees of federal, provincial and municipal governments
  • Engineers responsible for large industrial, commercial or institutional facilities who must deal with different types of foundations
The course will be of interest to a wide range of practicing civil engineers at different stages in their careers. Some familiarization with soil mechanics is desirable but the knowledge is not required at a specialist level. The course will be most beneficial to geotechnical engineers, engineering geologists, foundation designers, project engineers, and highway/bridge engineers who are involved in the design and construction of foundations.
