Duration:

This course is approximately 3 weeks in duration.

Learning Method:

  • The PDDP program is more of a self-guided learning style.

  • You are required to read the notes and materials given, complete the follow-up assignments on your own, send in your questions prior to your 1 hour webinar meeting (if required) and be involved in live discussion via the internet.

  • Once you have completed the course, you will receive a certificate of completion

Description
Majority of the industrial process applications require real time deterministic networks which are the backbone of the industrial applications, automations and robotics distributed on the manufacturer floor or on a wide area e.g. oil industry.
This course will focus on understanding the real time communication networks functionality, requirements and implementation. The practical approach of the course is guaranteed by having the students perform hands on work on cutting edge technology communication networks.

This course will:
  • Provide in depth explanation of the functionality of the most important real time communication networks; protocols and convertors.
  • Explain the RS-Networks Function to setup Device Net
  • Explain the RS-Networks to setup Control Net
  • Provide technical hands on exercise to schedule Control Net network
  • Explain how to setup the SERCOS Network
  • Describe the best practices to achieve the desired performance, e.g. redundancy; speed; volume of information; distance
  • Demonstrate the superiority of Industrial Ethernet Network
  • Define the most important applications for different types of networks
  • Provide the Hands On Demonstration to debug a faulty Control Net Keeper
  • Provide the Hands On Demonstration to debug a Faulty SERCOS Network
Throughout the course consideration will be given to the economic aspects of Real Time & Deterministic Network Systems. The course will also contain several exercises that will assist in the understanding of much of the information presented.

Objective
To provide an understanding of the fundamentals, and basic techniques to select, Setup and test the real time & deterministic communication network.

Who Should Attend
Plant and facilities managers, engineers, technicians and supervisors who need to be familiar with the fundamentals associated with Real Time Networking; Plant and facilities operations personnel; Managers, engineers, consultants, technicians and supervisors responsible for plants and facilities containing Real Time Communication Systems.

After participating in the seminar, you will be able to:
  • Understand the major types of real time & deterministic Networks
  • Understand Data Highway Plus and Remote I/O-Allen Bradley Real Time Networks
  • Understand Device Net Network Application and Functionality
  • Understand Control Net Real Time Network Operation
  • Understand SERCOS Real Time Network, operation and Application
  • Understand Industrial Ethernet Protocol, using STRATIX Router
  • Understand HART Protocol for the SCHEDULING Process
  • Select the Proper Real Time Network for an Application
  • Select the proper configuration of the Real Time Network to ensure minimum information traffic and maximum reliability
  • Specify the hardware required to implement a Real Time Network based on Control Net
  • Schedule the Real Time Network using RS-Networks
  • Perform Optimization on the information traffic
  • Perform Testing of the Real Time Network, and Debugging configuration Errors
  • Set up the Keeper for Control Net
  • Setup the TAGS for Device Net
  • Troubleshoot a multiple real time network communication system

The PDDP Distance Education program works as follows:

  • Once you register for this course, you will be sent a login username and password for our online distance website.

  • You will receive the course notes in hard copy through the online website, you will receive a set of notes each week covering the course material.

  • A one hour video-conference session will be conducted by your instructor each week (if required). The objective of this session is to assist in solving the assignments, as well as answer student questions that should be sent to instructor early enough prior to the meeting time. In addition with being able to communicate with the instructor, you will also be able to communicate with other students in the same class and watch their questions being answered as well. (A high speed internet connection is strongly recommended for this feature).

  • Each set of exercises can be completed and submitted by the indicated date and your completed exercise will be marked online and and returned by your instructor.

  • To gain the most from your course, it is highly recommended that you participate fully in all discussions and exercises. Please remember that each course has a form of quiz or exercise at the end to test your understanding of the material. You will be informed of these dates when you receive the course schedule.

*Course commencement date is subject to instructor availability.
