Description:
Effective communication is a vital skill in today’s workplace. Engineers are typically more comfortable with numbers than with grammar or the writing process. To succeed as an engineer, you need more than technical know-how. This intensive, hands on course will address the key concepts and methodologies in writing clear, concise engineering communication. Engineers will graduate from this course with a portfolio of their writing samples and confidence to write noise-free, targeted messages to peers, supervisors, partners and customers.

Learning Outcomes
Students will:
- Master and apply a range of writing processes to technical and business communication tasks.
- Analyze writing situations to understand your audiences and purposes for writing
- Compose effective sentences: write grammatically correct, diverse sentences, free of punctuation and spelling errors.
- Observe appropriate conventions and formats for letters, emails, memoranda, progress reports and other formal and informal reports.
- Gather, analyze and organize needed data for writing an engineering report
- Integrate graphic communication into your writing
- Collaborate effectively with peers who provide feedback on each others’ work.
- Communicate in an ethically responsible manner.
