ASME B31.3 Process Piping Design with Intro to API 579 Fitness-For-Service and Flange Leakage.
This intensive five-day course is designed to give the participants a thorough understanding of Process Piping Code, ASME B 31.3. and covers all aspects from piping design to testing, certification and an overview of how to do an assessment for Fitness-For Service once the piping system is placed into service. It offers detailed insight of code requirements for piping components, branch connections, selection of flanges, fittings, flexibility considerations, material requirements, fabrication, welding, NDT examination and pressure testing.
The course also provides an insight to the industry accepted good practice to prevent flange leakage problem and after service API 579 Fitness-For-Service to make a Run-Repair-Replace decision. Lessons are enhanced by actual in-class problem solving, directly applying the rules and equations of the B31.3 Code/API 579 for various design and operating conditions.
Objective
· Provide a basic interpretation and understanding of the design code in simplified form.
· Provide an awareness of the code and regulations that governs the design and operation of a plant.
· Provide basic knowledge of design to young Engineers and plant Maintenance, Operation and Construction Engineers for easy decision making.
· Provide enough knowledge for fluid service requirement and limitations on materials.
· Provides concepts and methods for assuring the mechanical integrity of existing piping systems.
· Introduction to Flange Design, Leakage problems and Bolt Torquing and Tightening procedure.
· Presents an overview of how the methodology of API 579/ASME FFS-1 can be applied for assessing the present structural integrity of the piping system once placed into service and deciding its fitness for continued service as well as the projected remaining life.

· Design of pipe fittings such as elbows, tees and blanks

· Overview of flanges as per ASME B 16.5 & ASME B16.47
