Description

  • Vibration measurement of rotodynamic pumps is useful for condition monitoring, diagnostics, and asset health assessment. This course explains the specific guidelines given in ANSI/HI 9.6.4 and ISO 10816 for assessing the severity of vibration measured on non-rotating parts of rotodynamic pumps at site and during factory acceptance tests. ISO 10816 includes guidelines for assessing relative vibration of the rotating shaft.

Objective

  • The participants will be able to learn/ refresh the basics of vibrations, learn pre-requisites for vibration measurement, understand how to apply ANSI/HI 9.6.4 standard and understand how to apply ISO 10816 standard.

Target Audience

  • Managers, engineers, supervisors, and professionals in general industry and responsible for:
  • Preparing vibration acceptance specifications,Conducting inspection, testing and approvals,Operations and maintenance, condition monitoring

Level of Course

  • This is an intermediate level course. It requires basic understanding of vibrations in rotating machines, engineering knowledge and competency in calculations. An exposure and understanding of rotary machines in a plant or factory and some knowledge of vibration measurement instruments is helpful.

Learning Objectives

  • The students will have an intermediate knowledge of this course requiring basic understanding of vibrations in rotating machines, engineering knowledge and competency in calculations. It will give an exposure and understanding of rotary machines in a plant or factory and some knowledge of vibration measurement instruments is helpful.

After you attend this course/workshop, you will be able to:

  • Comprehend the vibration measurement requirements relevant to the equipment and its application,
  • Select the most suitable vibration measurement scheme from the options given in the standard,
  • Prepare precise and accurate specifications for new applications or revisit existing ones,
  • Conduct, supervise or manage the vibration measurement exercise,
  • Review the results and judge acceptance vis-à-vis the guidelines given in the standard.

Material(s) Required

  • Laptops will help in solving the exercises given in this course
  • Copy of the ANSI/HI standard 9.6.4
  • Copy of the ISO standard 10816
