Description

Out of the total power consumed in the industry, 27% of it is used in pumping systems. It is therefore of paramount importance to ensure that the design, selection and operation and maintenance of pumps is done optimally. To optimize the pumping system performance the correct definition of the system boundary, evaluation of the system Cycle Costs, and identification of the major cost contributors is essential. System performance improvement / optimization helps in reducing the power consumption/ carbon footprint, in improving the longevity of the assets, and in controlling the expenses such as OPEX. In this session we will cover the following topics:

  1. Assessing Pumping System Needs

  2. Common Pumping System Problems

  3. Indications of Oversized Pumps

  4. Piping Configurations to Improve Pumping System Efficiency

We will go through the practical examples as well.

After going through this session, the participants will be able to understand:

       i. The cost saving potential in their plant through pumping system performance optimization.
